How to Fix an iPhone 12 That Won’t Turn On
Try these solutions if your iPhone 12 won’t turn on. These fixes also apply to iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max that won’t turn on:
Power on the iPhone
Press and hold the power button at the right side of your iPhone. If the iPhone is powered off, you should see the Apple logo appear after a couple of seconds, which means that the phone is functioning normally.
Perform a force restart
Your iPhone 12 might simply be temporarily frozen and needs a manual reset or “force restart.” Quickly press and release the volume up button, then the volume down button. Finally, press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears, and then release it.
Charge the battery
If the iPhone 12 doesn’t boot up after a few seconds, the battery is probably drained. In this case, connect the iPhone to a wall outlet using the cable and charger that came with it. Wait for 30 minutes while the battery charges, then turn on the iPhone. Even if the iPhone turns on, it may be low on power, so leave it charging for as long as possible or until the battery is fully charged.
Check your charging port and cable
If the iPhone 12 still doesn’t turn on after 30 minutes connected to power, check the charging port and cable and make sure they’re clean. If the charging port is clogged with debris or the charging cable contacts are dirty, this can prevent the battery from charging. Clean the Charging port carefully with a toothpick and a little isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, and try a different charging cable. Alternatively, try charging your iPhone wirelessly.
Make sure the power button is working
If the power button doesn’t seem to work, plug the iPhone 12 into a power source and see if it turns on automatically. If the phone turns on and has power, then there might be a problem with either the power button or the power button cable. Test the power button and take your iPhone in for repair it if necessary.
Check your display
It’s possible that it appears nothing is happening because the display is bad. An easy way to test this is to turn the phone on and listen for a sound. Also, you can move the mute toggle switch back and forth to see if it vibrates. If it vibrates or you hear a sound but nothing displays on the screen, then the screen is most likely the problem. Check the next solution.
Visit Apple store
If your iPhone 12 still doesn’t turn on after trying the above steps, it may have a hardware failure. The easiest solution is to locate the nearest Apple Store. Apple store employees can help determine what the underlying issue is with your iPhone.
